JUNE
26, 2010 FLY-IN
Although the extremely hot weather and a few competing events may have kept attendance down, those who gathered at the 95th Squadrons Warbird Fly-in on Saturday, June 26 enjoyed a full day of fun flying. Fewer pilots meant more flying time for everyone. Our thanks to those brave pilots who drove to Gaston from Raleigh and Rocky Mount to spend the day sweating with us on the flight line and in the pits (pun intended). The group took a break for a BBQ lunch at noon and to enjoy some conversation with fellow pilots. The event brought many spectators to the field to observe the professional flying displays put on by the pilots. One man even drove from Lynchburg, VA to see the show. Spectators and pilots alike took plenty of chances to win several great door prizes provided by the Club, including a ready to fly P-51, won by Tony Hughes of Virginia Beach, Va. Photos and the writeup submitted by Doug Hughes. |
